Are there any active comms on LJ revolving around daily or weekly writing prompts for things other than fanfic? I would prefer that they were plots/plot bunnies, not just prompts or images (I've got a bunch of them, they're cool. But I really want plot ideas!).
Would anyone be interested in joining such a comm if I were to just start one, if there isn't one already active?
Ex) Once a week, a plot is chosen, and the members of the comm all write a story with the same basic, vague plot and post them at the end of the week, resulting in a telephone-game-esque rainbow of stories which really have nothing to do with each other at all.
This is specifically what I'm looking for, and I could've SWORN I saw one on LJ forever ago, but never got around to joining. Again, couldn't find anything with the interest search, but I didn't go back further than things that had been inactive for more than a few months. If it's dead, it doesn't really do me any good. :/
Thanks in advance.

if i were to make chocolate cookies with crushed peppermint bark (a stand-in for chips, chocolate or other), do you think they'd turn out well?
would you be disappointed to get them in a gift exchange?
how about if it were a basket with half chocolate-peppermint cookies and half pumpkin-nut cookies?
if you were expected to participate in a gift exchange but had no money, what would you bring/make/give?

Feel free to delete this if you like but I just thought I'd share for a good giggle:

Do you browse LJ from your phone?
I'm asking this because there are some posts about cups splitting/ tearing/ feelings that it was time to get a new one.
I have a small MCUK ( bought a year ago) and a large Lunette (bought half a year ago).
Thought they could last for at least the next 20 years.
How long did you have your cup until it split or needed to be replaced?

Have you ever had a girlfriend's/boyfriend's parent call you names to your face or within hearing distance?
My mom called my ex a loser-deadbeat dad when he was helping move out. We were in the basement but I'm pretty sure she knew he could hear her. She's called every girl my brothers have dated as sluts and all guys my sister and I've dated as losers, but this was the first time I remember her saying it while they were there.
What <$10 gift should I get for a grab bag at work? I work with mostly women, but a 2 or 3 guys. I have a ton of new candles that I'll never use, would re-gifting be a big no-no?

How do I coherently and eloquently express to my best friend that she is a dumb shit for sleeping in the practice room tonight so that she could check out of the dorm today?
If you don't give a fuck, what was the last thing you ate?

I currently smell like burnt bread under my arms.
Why you might ask? Well it all started a few months ago, my pits got really irritated, and it was PAINFUL. I just thought it was an allergic reaction to certain perfumes in the deodorant I was using, because I am allergic to most perfumes and soaps, anyway. So I stopped using that deodorant and switched to a natural type of deodorant(it doesn't cover up the B.O smell as strongly as the chemical type, but whatever, not in pain) The painful rash cleared up after a week or two after, so I haven't thought anything of it.
Until today. I started to smell weird, I wouldn't even be able to describe the smell, nothing I have ever smelled before. I just kind of ignore it, wash my pits and slap on some deodorant. Fast forward a few hours and my pits are irritated and painful, like before.
I go to Dr.Google, and come up with sweat/heat rash, so I'm thinking thats what it is. I look up a few treatments, diaper rash cream comes up, so I ask my sister(who makes babies for a living) for some, but then she goes on about how burnt flour clears up diaper rash in like 3 days, so I think 'hey, nothing to lose' and rub my pits full of burnt flour. I guess I'll see if shes right in a few days.
Ps. I think I have a tiny third nipple next to my real nipple.

I'm trying to find a book I heard about about four or five years back… I think it was originally German and set in a high school… It was a young adult novel, but contained very sexually explicit scenes and caused some controversy when the English translation came out, leading it to be banned in some libraries. Ring a bell for anyone?
Hi everybody! I've been away from this community for quite a while because I was spending time enjoying a few months of being SD. My original stats are here but I'm going to update them because it's been a while since I wrote that.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has accused a Lyman couple of operating a business that swindled more than $52,000 from people seeking legal immigration status in the U.S.
Deputies began investigating Lorraine and Mark Stiffel and their business, Community Immigration Services, after 11 individuals and two businesses came forward claiming they were defrauded money for services that were never delivered.
Deputies executed a search warrant at the business, located at 121 Highway 29 in Lyman, Monday morning.
Mark Stiffel, 50, of 1173 Holly Springs Road, Lyman, was arrested and charged with one count of criminal conspiracy.
Investigators were still looking Monday night for Lorraine Stiffel, 51, of the same home address. She is charged with one count of unlawful practice of law, nine counts of breach of trust greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000, and four counts of breach of trust greater than $5,000.

I think I really like opera-style and choral singing. I want to listen to more of it.
Are there any opera/oratorio fans here? If someone wanted to start listening to this type of thing, where should they start?

Larry Grard admits he had “a lapse in judgment.” But Grard – who’s been a reporter for thirty-five years, the last eighteen of them at the Morning Sentinel in Waterville – says the e-mail he sent from his personal account to a national gay rights group shouldn’t have been grounds for his dismissal.

A new Rasmussen poll finds that the tea party movement's popularity is growing, so much so that it garners more support than the Republican party on a generic Congressional ballot. The poll hints that the burgeoning discontent among conservatives within the GOP threatens to splinter the party at a time when the popularity of President Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress are waning as we head into an election year.
